Reserved car through Expedia. At pickup were told we couldn't use credit card to cover basic insurance and were charged more than double.
Only option was to give clerk $12,000 USD in cash as a deposit! She then told us we were fools to believe we could rent a car at the low price quoted by Expedia. Upon returning the car a different clerk said the first clerk should have accepted the credit card and told us to write the manager to complain. We did, but of course there was no resolution.
Have had issues with Europcar in Mexico previously (upon returning cars they have tried to charge us for pre-existing damages) but now know to photograph and film the inspections - this incident though was unacceptable. Won't ever use them again.
